THE FIRED IMPRESSION

A Printmaker's Research into Glass

These works and research realize the gap in translating printmaking processes into and on glass. The documentation of these techniques has been minimal, finding texts covering a survey of printmaking and glass only surfaced two books published over 20 years ago.  They were both from the perspective of the glass artist.  The aim of this research, taken in tandem with a Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) at SUNY New Paltz with student, Gabbi Bush, was to translate the processes with the success and expectations we have for them on paper.  The techniques are made dimensional in my personal practivce by introducing the long-standing craft traditions of stained glass.
